I. Okoboji When the last is fades away, Calling, calling, When the last is fades away, You call me home, You call the last ones home, You call the last ones home. II. Gull Point Slowly, calmly, on the way home, Slowly calmly home, And like the ocean's pall, Rise and away. And how I long to be free, And oh, to be free, like the waves! The tumble and foam! Spring tide and undertow, Watch me come and watch me go, This is all you need to know: Feel the wave, And let it go.

I. Memory Song Leave the past behind, Cliffs eroding. II. Moment Song Here and now, Sing a song, Here and now, Loud and strong. Listing up to ancient skies, May the sound resound! III. Moving Song Forever moving forward, Gayly forward. It's the future of city living.

about

Regenerate! is a loose collection of musicians based in Southeast Michigan, Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, and Detroit. We want to provoke a joyful revolution in classical music! We’re always looking for ways to make our orchestra more thrilling, inclusive, and sustainable.

What kind of music do we play? That’s a hard question, but to give it a go I’d call it experimental-ambient-folk-noise music. We put on shows called “immersions,” where we fill a space with musicians and set the whole place ringing with warm, chaotic sounds.

Life today can be isolating and exhausting. The Regenerate! Orchestra combats the forces of alienation by creating an uplifting, place-based community around music!

Classical music often neglects its relationship to place. Composers work hard to ensure their music can be played anywhere, by anyone, while sounding the same each time. In classical music's quest to maximize efficiency, it often flattens and depersonalizes the music-making process. At its worst, it can drain music of its social element and render it lifeless.

We're after the opposite; music that is so Michigan that it literally can't happen anywhere else. We want to make music that is full of life, which for us means music that is deeply rooted in place, that draws from and strengthens our local regional identity. The only way to truly experience our music is by joining us for a live event here in MI. We want to give this community something truly unique to be proud of and to find joy in!
